Bathing Beau

Last night Beau took his first real bath, and he seemed to really enjoy it.  Well, most of it.  When the warm water was running over him he was in a state of total amazement!  He took five outside afterwards with his girl, mommy, and exchanged a few knowing glances with me.  We think this is gonna be good.

Matt and Melissa come visit!

Beau loved his uncle and future auntie Melissa.  He only cried when I took him back.  :-)

Beau gets cuter, cries about it

Beau is growing up before our eyes, settling into his life as a prince, and acting like it.  We think his face is adorable, but its all we can enjoy when he cries after 30 seconds of not being attached to mommy's boob.  Hopefully this is normal and transient...cause its not much fun!

Still, its always possible to catch him being ridiculously cute.  Here's some of that...

Bonding with daddy

I really enjoy the time when Beau feeds from the bottle.  That's one of my jobs, and its a pleasure.  The bottle is quick and easy, with none of the rooting and latching associated with breast feeding.  Of course breastfeeding is about skin-to-skin time and the pleasure of a natural connection to mommy.  But when its just me and him, lets get a quick bite so we can focus on other projects!

Ballin' since day 10

Beau has been exhibiting a real talent for cuddling.  This makes perfect sense, as his parents are naturals.  Still we are caught off guard when he pulls off a move as shown above, which is unexpected even for a seasoned pro.

Getting a grip

Beau seems to be slowly adjusting to life on the outside.  In a major growth spurt, Beau has been a voracious eating machine (and sleeping machine).  We see the changes too.  His face shows passing glimpses of maturity, where you might be able to see how he will mature, but on the whole he is very chameleon-like.  We love the faces he makes!

Mornings...

For the third day in a row I've walked into Beau's room to find him and his mommy snuggled up in the morning light.  It's a sight to behold, and while this camera photo does no real justice to the magic of the scene, it still gives an impression of how cozy they are in each other's arms.

Beau G

Today was Beau's one week anny.  He spent a warm and sunny day with Mommy and Grandma Peggy, hangin' on the deck, resting inside, relaxing, and taking in a little Allman's at the Fillmore (1970).  At some point he started practicing his OG swang.  We took it in stride, as that's right on track for his development expectations.

Its my house!

Today the family went on a little road trip to LIC, and Beau really enjoyed his experience.  At least we suspect he did, since he was mostly sleeping through it.  But now he's awake and alert, and looking cuter than ever.

He's really been coming into his own in the past two days, mastering his breast feeding skills (its not as easy as you think), self-soothing and generally staking his territory with confidence.  He loves his castle, his chariot(s) and his natural habitat...his beautiful mommy.

Beau knows relaxing

For a five-day-old Beau really knows how to chill.  We are continually amazed by his ability to get comfortable.  In this pic Beau shows us a princely technique nestled in the most-comfortable-place-on-earth.

A Beautiful Weekend

Enjoying a 'beau'tiful weekend with the boy.  He's being an angel, if a little fussy at times, but he makes 3:30am feel like the middle of the afternoon when he reaches out to grab you.

The force is strong in this one...

Good morning!  Or should I say, good middle-of-the-damn-night...  Today's post highlights Beau's Yoda ear, which appears to be slightly different from his other ear.  In time, the cartilage might form to a more typical shape, but we think this unique attribute may be a mark of his Jedi nature.

In his fourth day he's doing great, lots of sleeping and cuddling up to his lion headrest.  He's about to get outside for a nice afternoon in the upstate NY air.  We hope he can stay up for the enjoyment!

Supermarket man!

It was his first trip into the real world and Beau was already flexing his social muscles. At the Hannaford's in New Paltz, patrons and employees were pretty impressed with his blasé demeanor and cool style. At only three days old Beau is ready for prime time!

Welcome!

Hey guys!  Welcome to the Beaulog!

This blog is dedicated to our new son Beau, who was born only three days ago.  The past few days have been filled with introductions to family and friends with lots of kissing, snuggling, poking, prodding, wiping, doting, checking and loving.  He's a lucky kid.
